A Mandriva 2006 system with a "/tmp" containing at least 2G free space, and a swap partition of 2G.
This is to set the initial environment for the creation of the live CD. The LiveCD_Installer can be included on the live CD. This will enable the user to install it onto a machine which is running the LiveCD
You can start LiveCD_Installer in the following ways:
![]() | You will need root privileges to run this application. |
Choose System->Configuration->Install Live CD.
To start LiveCD_Installer from a command line, type the following command, then press Return:
/usr/share/LiveCD_Installer/LiveCD_Installer
When you start LiveCD_Installer, the following window is displayed.
This is just to inform you what the LiveCD_Installer is about, click Forward to continue.
To install a live CD onto a machine, you need to define a minimum of two partiotions
This part lets you define which partition to install it onto. You will need a partition for the root (/) filesystem, and one for the swap filesystem.
A good rule is to make the root (/) partition at least 4GB and the swap partition 1.5x the available RAM.
Should you want to use the machine you install the live CD on to remaster a live CD we sugest that you increase the swap size to at least 2GB, and increase the root (/) partition to more than 7GB.
If you want to create or modify partition sizes there is a "Harddisk" button which will start Mandriva 2006's "Diskdrake" utility.
After you resized or created any partitions using tha "Diskdrake" utility, be sure to click the "Refresh" button in order to fetch the latest list of available partitions.
![]() | Please bear in mind that fooling around with partitions can be dangerous to data. Always first make a backup of important data! |
You can specify which partitions need to be formatted.
